About the Wood Element
"In Spring people should rise early with the sun, and take brisk walks."— Nei Ching
Wood Element Organs: Liver/Gallbladder
Season: Spring
Wood Element carries the energy of new beginnings, growth, and rebirth. The energy moves upward and outward, fully expressed in the Spring season.
Wood represents sprouting seed energy, forward vision, and a plan for the future. The sensory outlet of wood is the eyes, enabling us to look into the future and be optimistic. The Wood Element likes to be in charge, first in line, ahead of others. The energy of Wood moves up like a tree and the emotion is anger/frustration, which is why people with chronically excess Wood can be prone to headaches, high blood pressure, ands/or outbursts of anger. Chronic deficiency of Wood can be experienced as repressed anger, the inability to feel anger, or difficulty making decisions. Wood is also impulsive and can be seen in daredevils, artists, and entrepreneurs.
Wood rule the tendons, has a strong effect on decision making, rules smooth flow of Qi, stores the blood, controls tendons and manifests in the nails. The associated sound is shouting, the flavor is sour, direction is East, climatic condition is wind, the color is green. In the TCM Circadian clock, Gallbladder time is 11-1am, Liver time is 1-3am.
So drink your lemon water, scatter seeds, take a brisk walk, have a temper tantrum, make a vision board, grab your sunglasses, have fun.
